Summary of role:
The Equipment and Facilities Manager is responsible for all aspects of troubleshooting and equipment maintenance related to production epitaxial growth operations. They are also responsible for maintaining the building infrastructure (building safety and alarms, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and waste stream systems) to ensure continuous plant operation. They will manage assigned personnel to ensure tasks are delegated and completed on time. They will develop technicians and build a strong team. Additional duties include participating in developing long-range strategic site planning, operational excellence and continue improvement.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage a team of technicians; review and evaluate performance of team; set goals and expectations aligned with company goals
- Work with and manage outside service contractors such as electricians, plumbers, landscapers, etc to ensure timely repair, upkeep, and maintenance of the facility
- Ensure that all activities are performed in a safe manner and that all IQE Safety policies are followed including vendors and contractors
- Lead, train and motivate the team to perform high quality work
- Seek best practices and apply continuous improvement (OpEx)
- Hands-on work with technicians to review daily readings, trend the results and implement action plans when reading is out of norm
- Document and implement standard operating procedures (SOP), work instructions and checklists
- Oversee repairing various reactor equipment; update and execute preventive maintenance schedule on the reactors; repair ancillary equipment to reactors during downtime; assist and specialize in reactor cleaning/rebuild, exhaust/filter replacement, source install and parts etching during maintenance cycles of the reactor according to SOPs
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and performs root cause analysis
- Interpret schematics and electro-mechanical drawings and trend data.
- Organization of work areas and spare parts
- Maintain relationship with equipment OEMs and develop pathways for second-source alternative parts
- Work with HSE group to Support and manage all governmental compliance reporting requirements
- Respond to facility alarms and provides emergency maintenance support off hours
- Responsible for equipment and facilities budget and spending; will be expected to lead cost reduction efforts within the facilities organization
- Work with process engineering, operations and planning teams to prioritize and agree on timing for scheduled and unscheduled tasks
- Maintain calibrated tool/equipment list and ensure all remain valid
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Semiconductor process tool experience
- Knowledge of electro-mechanical systems (HVAC, air compressors, vacuum pumps, chillers, air handlers, boilers, RO/DI water system, extract fans)
- Experience with PLC and low voltage electronic control systems and test equipment
- Knowledge of high vacuum systems and helium leak checking
- Motivated self-starter, good communication skills and ability to work hands-on with the team
- Strong leadership, organizational and record keeping skills.
- Requires proficiency in applying automated computer systems to achieve business solutions including Windows operating systems (98 and above) to navigate between applications and store data using Microsoft office applications including Excel, Word and Outlook
- 10 years cleanroom experience highly desired
- Experience with Veeco and Aixtron MOCVD reactors, Honeywell safety and control systems are a plus
- Experience managing capital projects using effective program management techniques is desired
- Field service or applications experience a plus
- Massachusetts wastewater “Operators License” is a plus
